The koala is quiet as a mouse.
Small claws to climb and eat a lot of gum leaves.
Carries its baby wherever it goes.
The calm and sleepy koala.

Fireworks

Look like fire sprinklers.
Sounds like a big bomb.
Tastes like very hot pepper.
Smells like a smoker.

Have you ever seen a piglet?
Bright pink, curly tail, oinky sound.
Gorgeous.

The storm looked like the wind blowing trees,
swaying trees and rivers flooding.
The storm sounded like rattling windows and rain in the trees.
The storm felt like leaves hitting me.

One day Murphy buried his bone. The next day he forgot where he had put it. Stella came to play with the bone but they couldn’t find it. Murphy and Stella started looking for the bone and they dug ten big holes in Helen’s flower garden. Suddenly a golden budgie pooped on Stella and Murphy. They barked at it then trouble came. Helen was coming home from shopping.
Helen jumped back in surprise. “Murphy, Stella,!” she shouted. Then Stella smelled a bone smell. Stella and Murphy found the bone in the dirt. Murphy was happy but Helen wasn’t because she had to give them a bath.

One evening last summer Jim and Debbie took a drive when suddenly a spaceship landed in front of them. Then a tiny alien came out and said “Hello”. The alien stole their wheels and put them on his spaceship so he could drive it, not fly it in the sky. The alien took off and Jim and Debbie couldn’t drive their car. They had to buy another car that cost
$600 000 000.

Autumn looks like trees moving in the wind.
Autumn feels like pretty leaves gliding down on me.
Autumn sounds like cold rain on the roof.
Autumn sounds like a crackling fire in the house.

Term 1

My favourite thing this term was when Lochie’s mum brought some animals to Nelson Central School. We saw a piglet, two dogs and one puppy. I got to hold Jazz and she was as soft as a pillow. I liked patting the goat because it felt soft and smooth. The goat I like best was Milo because his head was the same colour as Milo cereal. Next year I would like to take Milo for a walk all round Nelson Central School. We had a fantastic day seeing the animals at Nelson Central School. I hope we see them again this year.

Spider Comes to Visit!

Matua Elmars brought a Huntsman spider to our class. Frankie held it. It chases its prey and it doesn’t spin webs. It doesn’t hurt people. The builders found it and gave it to Elmars. Elmars told us the Huntsman was found in Australia and came to New Zealand two years ago. There are not many left. The spider was hairy and creepy. It had orange claws and long legs. It was as long as a finger, it was brown and black.

Granny Lima's Bedtime Story

We are learning to retell a story March 2008

Once upon a time there was a princess who wanted to see outside the kingdom. Just then the ogre jumped out and said “You can’t go anywhere.” That night the princess heard the ogre talking. Next morning the ogre let the princess past. The princess found the ogre’s son. The next day the prince and princess were married and they lived happily ever after.
